Professional Affiliations for Dr. Mike Lockett

Dr. Mike Lockett has worked with and learned from many professionals during his long career. He has maintained membership in a variety professional organizations to enable him to learn from others and contribute to educating children. Over his long career, Dr. Lockett has been a member of and has contributed his services to the following organizations.

2010-Present - Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI)
- Dr. Lockett joined the SCBWI to work with other authors and with illustrators to learn from one another to continue contributing to the field of children's literature. Mike is also a member in good standing with the Illinois SCBWI and the Central Illinois Chapter of the SCBWI.
2010-Present - Independent Book Publishers Association
- Dr. Lockett is a member in good standing with the IBPA. The organization offers help to independent publishers in bringing their books and products to schools, libraries and all markets for America's readers. Lockett's distributor for his books is SPU -Small Press United. SPU Is associated with IBPA.
2006-Present - Christian Storytelling Network
- Mike has presented multiple times at the National Christian Storytelling Conference. He is a supporter of the organization and has served as a Member of Board of Directors 2006-2009, Vice President 2006-2007, Chairperson for the 2007 National Christian Storytelling Conference and co-chair for 2008 and 2009 conferences, Traveled with CSN as Storyteller in May, 2012 to Israel and Palestine.

- Presented at 2007 Midwest Storytelling Concert at Northlands Conference,
2006-Present - NEST - Northeast Storytelling - Formerly LANES - The League for the Advancement of New England Storytelling
- Presented at 2007 Sharing the Fire Storytelling Concert, Hosted sessions at 2008 conference, Workshop leader for 2009, Featured Panel Member and Workshop Presenter in 2011. Worked with LANES President in 2016 as part of committee to develop a "how to" packet for beginning storytellers. Presented Sharing the Fire workshop in 2016. Member Conference Planning Committee in 2017. Served on Board of Directors from January, 2018 through present.

- Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America. Member of Sound of Illinois Chorus and Lead Singer for the Fourtunates Quartet, Board Member SOI 2003-2007, International Competitor in Nashville, 2008; Anneheim, 2009; Philadelphia, 2010; Kansas City, 2011 and Portland, 2012, Toronto, 2013; Las Vegas, 2014; Pittsburgh, 2015; Nashville, 2016, Las Vegas, 2017and Orlando, 2018. Chorus - is ranked 22 worldwide - out of about 900 choruses. (SOI was ranked #12 in 2015.)
